About the journal and its indexing
Journal “Complex use of mineral resources” (KIMS), published since 1978, covers the current problems of the mining and metallurgical complex and the latest scientific achievements of scientists. KIMS is issued 4 times a year; it has been published as an electronic online publication with open access since “2020 “.
The journal is included in the list of publications approved by the Committee for Control in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan; it was re-registered with the Committee for Information and Archives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Certificate No. 16180-ж dated October 18, 2016.
The editorial board of the journal includes leading scientists in the field of geology, mining, metallurgy, ore dressing, metallurgy and other areas of knowledge close to the journal’s scope.
Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Benefication is a publisher of the journal; it has become a member of the Publishers International Linking Association of “Crossref” and its journal “Kompleksnoe Ispol’zovanie Mineral’nogo Syr’a” now gets involved with Crossref’s community, connects your content with the global network of online research, and takes up additional infrastructure services. The Journal Kompleksnoe Ispol’zovanie Mineral’nogo Syr’a has been included in the “Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index” (CASSI). databases since September 2018. CASSI is a global organization of expert scientists, technologists, and business leaders with a successful and extended history of delivering scientific information opportunities.
Journal has been also indexed in WorldCat since 2018; it is the world’s largest network of library content and services.
In December 2020, the journal was included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index Web of Science Core Collection. Articles published after January 1, 2019, will be indexed soon. The selection of journals for indexing in the Emerging Sources Citation Index is the first and important step for inclusion in the main database of the Web of Science Core Collection, in which the impact factor index is assigned to the journal based on the citation of articles In the future, the journal may be evaluated and added to additional Clarivate Analytics products to meet the needs of the scientific and scholarly research community. The Journal is indexed in the Kazakhstani citation database as well.
• Journal “Complex Use of Mineral Resources”, issued by JSC “Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation”, accepts only original scientific and technical articles or reviews that have not been published anywhere or under review process for publication.
• Articles of a political nature, containing biased and incorrect assessments of other scientific works and other specialists, are not accepted for publication.
Authorship should include those who have made significant contributions to the concept, design, implementation, and interpretation of the researched study (submitted manuscript). All those who have made significant contributions should be credited as one of the authors. If there are other persons involved in some aspect of the research project, they must be registered as co-authors. The Corresponding author must ensure that all actual authors are included in the article and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article and agreed to submit it for publication.
Corresponding authors, on behalf of all article authors, must disclose their financial or personal relationships with other people or organizations that may adversely affect their research work. Examples of potential conflicts of interest include employment, consulting, shareholding, royalties, paid expert opinions, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other forms of funding.
Plagiarism policy
All articles submitted to the journal will be checked for plagiarism (originality should be 80%).
Editors should, whenever possible, identify unfair and duplicate (repetitive) publications, primarily at the pre-press stage.
If plagiarism or duplication of publications is found at the stage of reviewing or editing an article, it should be returned to the authors for proper revision or rejection.
If plagiarism or facts of duplication of publications, as well as placement of inaccurate information in an article is detected after the article was published in the journal, the editorial board reserves the right to remove this article from the journal’s website.
Rejection appeals
The authors have the right to appeal against the decisions of the editorial board. Appeals should be sent by e-mail to the editor by email: journal@kims-imio.kz with an appeal letter containing detailed explanations along with brief supporting arguments to substantiate the request. The appeals are then sent to a member of the editorial board for review. If successful, the appeal could lead to a resumption of peer review of the article, and ultimately the article may be published after any changes that the editorial board deems necessary. However, if the appeal is denied, the initial denial decision must be considered.
Articles submitted to the editorial office of the journal “Complex Use of Mineral Resources” (КИМС) should correspond to its profile, have a high scientific level, practical value and contain an element of novelty.
By submitting a manuscript for publication in the journal, the author guarantees the correctness of all information about himself, the absence of plagiarism (submits a report on anti-plagiarism, the uniqueness must be at least 80%) and other forms such as tables, diagrams, illustrations, figures and so on.
The article is submitted in electronic form according to the template in WORD format. In addition, a plagiarism report should also be sent. The uniqueness of the anti-plagiarism report must be at least 80%.
Article processing charge has been 30 000 tenge since 1st of July 2021.
The total number of authors should not exceed 5 people. In an article submitted by the Kazakhstani authors, a co-author, preferably, should be a foreign researcher.

Reviewers should give an evaluation of a manuscript according to the review form
Reviewers should avoid conflicts of interest with respect to the authors of the peer-reviewed article.
The result of the review of the article should be sent by the reviewer to an editor of the journal within 2 weeks. Further, the editor will submit the review results to a corresponding author about a possible decision on the publication, indicating the required improvements and terms: accepted in the presented form, accepted with a minor revision, accepted with a major revision and resubmission or rejection. This conclusion is approved by the editors or editorial board of the journal.
The last version of the edited article, as a rule, will be sent to the corresponding author for final approval before its online publishing on the journal webpage.

He has been working at the Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Rare Elements and Mineral Raw Materials (ICTREMS) of the Kola Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 1979, at present as the head of the laboratory “The development and implementation of chemical technology processes”. Since 2003, is engaged as the Associate Member of the International Academy of Ecology, Human and Nature Safety. He has the title of Honored Chemist of the Russian Federation.
Scientific profile: Research and development of hydrometallurgical processes of integrated processing of copper-nickel and nickel-cobalt raw materials, recovering and complex processing of metallurgical wastes with obtaining new reagents and materials. Particular emphasis is paid to the investigation of heavy non-ferrous metals and iron extraction out of combination solutions using various extracting agents and synergetic mixtures.

After graduating from the Kazakh chemical-technological institute (now -. South-Kazakhstan State University named after M. Auezov) M. Zhurinov worked as a teacher in KazCTI (1964-1966). Then he entered the full-time postgraduate study of the Dmitry Mendeleev Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology (University of Chemical Technology of Russia) (1967-1970) and in January 1970 he defended his Candidate’s dissertation. Then he worked as a senior lecturer, head of department, dean in KazCTI (1970-1982). In 1981 in Moscow he defended his doctoral thesis, in the same year was awarded the degree of Doctor of Sciences and the title of professor. Since 1982 he worked as prorector of Karaganda State University, Director of the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Coal Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1985-1991), Rector of the Yassaui Turkestan State University (1991-1995), the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1995-1997), president of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after H.A. Yassaui (1997-2001).
From 2001 to 2007, from 2013 to the present -. General Director of “D.V. Sokolskiy Institute of Fuel, Catalysis and Electrochemistry”. From October 2003 to present – president of NAS RK. He worked as prorector for science of the Kazakh-British Technical University (2010-2014), and in 2016 he was elected as a Chairman of Board of Directors of the Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev (on a voluntary basis).
In Kazakhstan, he created a new research direction to study the electrochemical properties of the different classes of organic compounds and electrosynthesis of biologically active substances based on natural compounds. He researched on electrochemical behavior of different classes of organic compounds and developed new methods of electrochemical synthesis of known drugs, as well as new physiologically active substances. Deep and comprehensive approach to study the electrochemical properties of alkaloids on solid electrodes, also preparative electrosynthesis on their basis of new pharmacologically active substances by appending to molecules of the analyte of various functional groups (hydroxyl, methoxyl, ethoxyl, etc.) in combination with quantum-chemical calculations, mathematical optimization of processes and pharmacological control of received products of electrolysis allowed to solve a number of important theoretical and technological problems. For the first time it was established the mechanisms occurring at the same electrochemical reactions with the use of modern current-voltage, spectral and quantum-chemical research methods. The technology was carried out and the plant for electrosynthesis of target products (opianic acid, pachycarpine, derivatives of aphylline, salsoline, solasodine, etc.) was created.
Zhurinov is one of the recognized by world community leading scientists in the field of electrochemistry, has over 750 scientific papers published in domestic and foreign issues, including 17 monographs, about 120 patents. His individual works have been patented in the United States, Britain, Japan and others. Under his supervision there are 40 candidates and PhD-doctors, six doctors of sciences, three of whom are elected as members of NAS RK.

Director of the Mining Institute named after D.A. Kunayev
In 1971 he graduated Kazakh Polytechnic Institute, Mining faculty with honors. In 1976 he passed candidate’s thesis concerned to the technology development and providing reasons to sustainable characteristics of selective working off the complex-structure deposits by the open-pit mining method, and a method of comparative economic evaluation of systems development of complex-structure deposits was created. In 1986 he defended his thesis for the PhD (Engineering) candidate, the content was regarded scientific challenge of the creation of progressive technologies for the coal quality generation and their influence on the technical and economic efficiency of the fuel and energy facility.
The new technologies for open and combined development of coal and ore deposits, sustainable methods and scientific and technical solutions for the mining production location have been created, sustainable schemes for opening deep mining pits horizons and circular-straight line and continuous mining technologies have been developed.
He was awarded 13 medals, titles and order, several prizes winner in the field of science and technology. He is an Honored Inventor of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Honorary Research Associate of Mining Institute named after D.A. Kunayev. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences and the National Academy of Mining Sciences.

She worked at the Institute of Metallurgy and Enrichment of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences (Alma-Ata), in the laboratory of hydrochemistry of rare and trace elements until 1994. In 1990 passed candidate’s thesis “Development of acid-extraction technology of gallium extraction from fly ash after power generating coal combustion”.

Dr. Brajendra Mishra is the Kenneth G. Merriam Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Metal Processing Institute at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute [WPI]. Dr. Mishra is the Director of the National Science Foundation’s Industry/University Collaborative Research Center on Resource Recovery & Recycling. Brajendra received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Prior to joining WPI, Prof. Mishra was a Professor of Corrosion and Physico-chemical Processing in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines [CSM] where he now serves as a University Emeritus Professor. Dr. Mishra has over thirty years of research experience in materials recovery and recycling, molten salt pyrometallurgy and electrochemistry and has many contributions to the application of these technologies to materials development and processing.
Dr. Mishra has authored over 500 technical publications in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He holds thirteen patents and has authored/edited 20 books. Dr. Mishra is a member of TMS, ASM International, and NACE. He is a Fellow of ASM (2001) and TMS (2016). Mishra received the Distinguished Service Award from the Minerals Metals & Materials Society (2010) and the highest award of Honorary Membership form the Indian Institute of Metals (2008). Brajendra served as the 2006 President of The Mineral, Metals & Materials Society (TMS) of AIME and the 2011 President of Amer. Institute of Mining, Metallurgical & Petroleum Engineers. Dr. Mishra received the Presidential Citation of AIME in 2015 and the Kenneth Andrew Roe Award from AAES (2016).

Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Negim graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry in 1992. Since then he has been working in the field of polymer chemistry, and particularly on research and development of various polymer for different applications including paint, coating, fertilizer, anti-bacterial, anti-fungi, adhesive, cement and concrete. He is employed as a researcher in National Research Centre, Cairo, Egypt from 1992 to present.
Prof. Negim has a PhD in polymer chemistry. His PhD (awarded in December 2006) al-Farabi- Kazakh National University, Almaty, Kazakhstan. Negim has many years R&D experience in various chemical admixtures for cement, concrete, and coating.Prof. Negim awarded as a post-doctoral scholar for 3 years (2007-2010) at Korea Polytechnic University (scholarship by Korea Science and Engineering Foundation). One of his research projects in Korea, in collaboration with Jindo Chemical co. Ltd, South Korea is ‘Preparation water-soluble polyurethane having comb-shaped and it is application in concrete’, which has produced promising results.
He worked as visitingresearcher in School of Chemical Science, University SainsMalaysia, Malaysia 2010-2012). He has worked in four countries (i.e. National Research Centre – Egypt, al-Farabi Kazakh National University – Kazakhstan, Korea Polytechnic University – South Korea, and School of Chemical Science University Sains Malaysia- Malaysia). Particularly, he has played an important role, including transfer of knowledge in current R&D projects in Korea, with industrial collaborations. He worked as Associate Professors for three years in Faculty of Science and Engineering, Wolverhampton University, UK. He got project entitle “Production of Sustainable Self Compacting Concrete” fully funded by Marie Curie Fellowship from European Union, where some interesting and valuable results are emerging. Heis a supervisor of 10 PhD students in different universities in Kazakhstan. Also, He was visiting Professor in different universities Kazakhstan includingal-Farabi Kazakh National University, Taraz State University and Kazakh National Technical University for delivery lectures and consultant MSc and PhD students.
Currently Prof. Negim is working as full professor in the Kazakh-British Technical University, School of Chemical Engineering from 2015 to present. Research interests is the physical and chemical research of phase equilibrium in the complex mixed phases metallurgical systems that have allowed to obtain not only essential results in theory but also to work out new made alloys and their smelting technologies: aluminum ferrosilicon with alloying components of various purposes, aluminum silicon manganese for deoxidation, steel alloying to obtain refined grade of ferromanganese, aluminum silicon chrome from high-ash coals, quartz rock and wastes of metal of chromium manufacturing to get refined ferrochrome, as well as ferrotitanium of various grades. The manufacturing technology of a complex alloy of ferrous silicon aluminum in a very short supply from Ekibastuz coals has been practiced under his supervision for the first time in the ferroalloy industry in 1999-2000.; later on “Kazakhstan Alloy” has been worked out and produced, covering the entire FSA spectrum obtained from any natural raw material and by all means. The technology of manganese and chromium ferroalloys smelting using high-ash off-grade Karaganda and Ekibastuz coals, as well as long-flame Shubarkol coal was launched and introduced under the management of S.O. Baisanov at the Kazakhstan ferroalloy plants.
